'Govt monitoring JE outbreak'

Health and Family Welfare Minister D Korungthang stated that the Health Department has been monitoring the condition of the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis apart from taking all necessary steps to check the spread of the viral disease.
D Korungthang was speaking at the World Hepatitis Day observance programme jointly organised by Hepatitis Forum of Manipur (HepFoM) and Manipur Network of Positive People (MNP+) at Hotel Classic.
DK Korungthang who attended the programme as the chief guest stressed on the need to eliminate hepatitis infection.
"People infected with HIV and hepatitis viruses need to be cared.
Fund sanctioned by the authority concerned should be utilised properly so as to achieve the goals and objectives of preventing and eliminating the diseases," the Minister said.
Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo also spoke on the need to set up a data on how to handle and treat people infected with hepatitis virus.
JNIMS has taken a step ahead by providing free medical treatment to the needy which is tremendously beneficial to financially backward families.
Similarly, such type of treatment should also be made available to people infected with hepatitis virus, MLA RK Imo said.
The programme was also attended by Hungyo Worshang, Project Director, MSACS and Dr Kh Lokeshor Singh, Associate Professor, JNIMS.
Care Foundation also observed the World Hepatitis Day at its head office at Checkon, Imphal.
