Manipur needs peace to facilitate tourist attraction: CM Ibobi

Manipur needs to maintain peace and become a secure State to facilitate more tourist attraction, Chief Minister O Ibobi stated on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2015 on Sunday.
The celebration was organised by Manipur Government's Tourism Department at Andro Santhei Park in Imphal East.
Ibobi attended the function as the Chief Guest.
This year's edition of World Tourism Day was celebrated under the theme "One Billion Tourists, One Billion Opportunities " .
Addressing the function, Chief Minister Ibobi stated that no tourist will want to visit the State if intimidation persists in a situation where there are no peace and security.

The Government needs cooperation from everyone in its effort to end any issue plaguing any of the community or between the different communities, Ibobi urged.
He said there will be development if the tourist footfalls in the State increased.
He said improvement of all tourist destinations and development of additional spots are equally important for the growth of the sector.
The Chief Minister said his Government will render maximum support in developing Andro, Kaina and other adjacent places to catch the attention of tourists.
He said there is a plan to install a 33/11 KV sub-station for Yairipok and Andro.
Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Department MLA M Prithiviraj was the President on the occasion and Andro constituency MLA Th Shyamkumar, Consultant to Manipur Government RK Nimai, Tourism Director Shyam Lal Punya, Secretary Nidhi Mani Tripathi and Andro village Chief Chingakpam Gandhar were the guests of honour.
Troupes from different art and culture organizations performed traditional song and dances during the event where stalls showcasing traditional tools and belongings of Andro were also opened.
Meanwhile, six journalists of the State, including Hueiyen Lanpao Staff Reporter Asem Babycha, were given Media Fellowship Award on the occasion of World Tourism Day celebrated at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex organised by the Manipur Tourism Forum.
Participating in the function, Chief Minister Ibobi flagged off a rally "Walk-Run-Ride for Tourism" to mark the World Tourism Day.
Earlier, the Media Fellowship Award was given away to the six journalists at the venue.
They were Asem Babycha, Poknakpham senior staff reporter Thongam Premchand, Naharolgi Thoudang sub-editor Kshetri Meghajit, the Sangai Express staff reporter Moirangthem Rustum, Imphal Free Press staff reporter Grace Jajo and Sanaleibak staff reporter Maisnam Ngamba.
Besides Ibobi, the event was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism M Prithiviraj, Additional Chief Secretary O Nabakishore, Tourism Secretary Nidhi Mani Tripathy, Director Shyam Lal Punya, Education Secretary H Dilip, Manipur Tourism Forum president Dr Dhabali and Shija Hospital managing director Dr K Palin.
Members from Manipur Polo and Horse Riding Association, Royal Riders Manipur, Manipur Cycle Association, Classic Groups of Hotel, Shija Hospital, Manipuri film artists and students from different school and colleges took part in the rally.
