Senapati: 2 quarantined; villages restrict entry of outsiders

Senapati, March 27 2020:
At least two individuals are at quarantine centre, Senapati for last 2 days.
One of them returned from abroad recently while the other was on the same flight with the lady who was first tested positive of COVID-19 on March 24 .
On querying, Dr Jacob Pao, DSO, DHS, IDSP, Senapati who is also the secretary of the newly formed District Rapid Response Team said that one came from Abu Dhabi and the other is stated to have boarded on the same flight with the Manipuri lady who was tested positive for COVID-19 recently.

As of now, the doctor said that there is no symptom of the virus from the two but in compliance, as ordered by Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, asking all travellers entering into the State whether by land or air need to be quarantined for 14 days from the date of their arrival to contain the spread of the pandemic.
The two are stated to be in good health at the district quarantine centre.
5 other people from the district coming from outside the State are also stated to be in other quarantine centres in Imphal including two under strict home quarantine at present.
Dr N Dihe Mao, CMO & MS, District Hospital, Senapati stated that the two are healthy and the doctors are round the clock with them.
District medical team are reportedly providing all necessary amenities to them during their stay.
The MS of District Hospital and CMO in-charge said that no symptom for COVID-19 are found in them.
Meanwhile, Senapati witnessed a total shutdown, paralysing normal life in and around the district headquarters.
Usual business establishments, vehicle movements and social distancing are strictly enforced since the announcement of the total lockdown, with restrictions of all outsiders entering into their villages and colonies in the district headquarters, Senapati .
Some villages had also restricted entry into their villages though local or outsiders to avoid the spread of pandemic COVID19.Maram Centre Covid-19 prevention squad put up 14 crosses at all entry points to the village asking for divine mercy and protection from the pandemic.
