AFESWA celebrates 3rd foundation day at Thoubal Achouba

Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association (AFESWA) has observed its 3rd foundation day at a community hall located at Thoubal Achouba on August 24.Retd Lieutenant General, Konsam Himalay; president, AFESWA Thoubal, retd Wing Commander Ak Debendro Singh; Lt Colonel of 26 AR, Liyan and Yairipok Post Commander Major Suraj Oinam attended the event as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, retd Lt General K Himalay said that plans are being made to establish Rajya Sainik Board (RSB) and Zila Sainik Board (ZSB) in the State by bearing 75 percent of the cost required by the Central Government and remaining 25 pc by the State Government.

Conveying that State ex-servicemen get less benefits from the Government as compared to other States, the retired Army officer assured that all possible help will be extended from his side to promote measures for the welfare of ex-servicemen in the State.
K Himalay also urged the State Government to take up welfare programme for the retired military men and women who have lived most of their lives serving the Nation.
Ak Debendro Singh also conveyed that though many States in the Country have already established RSB and ZSB more than 30 years ago and took up welfare schemes for the ex-servicemen, the story is different in the State.
Continuing that the association didn't call any bandh and blockade to meet its demand as their professional lives are based on 'discipline', he appealed the State Government to initiate similar welfare schemes for the ex-servicemen which are implemented in neighbouring States like Mizoram, Nagaland and Assam.
Several retired armed forces personnel and widows of the martyred soldiers also attended the programme.
