WAD stages sit in against threat on its staff

Members of Women Actions for Development (WAD) as well as numerous associations, staged a sit in protest in front of WAD office gate at Palace Compound today, condemning yesterday's incident during which an unidentified man came to WAD office and brandished and gun threatening the staff.
Speaking to media persons during the sit in, convenor of Eco Network Conservation, Kh Rebati Raman Singh said that yesterday, many staff were absent at WAD office due to the State wide bandh.
He continued that at around 12.20 pm, an unidentified man (wearing a halfpant) came to the office and began threatening the wife and daughter of the chowkidar by brandishing a gun, and added that the sit in protest has been organised condemning the said incident.
Urging all those concerned to refrain from such acts in the future, he also appealed to the Government to investigate and punish the miscreant.
He then condemned such an act which happened at the office of an NGO which is working tirelessly for the empowerment of women and the downtrodden.
Volunteers of Conflict Widow Forum, Village Women Coordinating Committee and Youth Forum for Protection Manipur, were also present as well.
