Imphal, July 24 2017:
Condemning the killing of Nengneingah Khongsai by a KNA cadre, the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has appealed to all Kuki militant organisations to exercise utmost discipline so that the common people are totally free from fear and apprehension .
In a statement issued by the information and publicity department, KIM also expressed immense appreciation to the initiatives taken by the Kuki Students’ Organisation to bring about justice and reconciliation .
It is so discouraging and heart-rending to see the easy recourse to killing that has become rampant among the Kuki people inspite of a century of Christianity.
Societies, communities, people groups, where shedding of blood has become so easy, are in a state of decline.
It is a tragedy that the generation that is to come would have to enter into the legacy of an environment where sanctity of life is not held in regard, where there is no freedom of speech and expression and there is fear and suspicion everywhere, KIM said .
“This is to appeal to all that it is in our hands to redress the ills in the societies.
This is to appeal to those who have sacrificed their normal lives to walk the militant’s path for the sake of the people’s future that guardians of the people’s welfare and future should not be the one who instill fear and terror.
This is to appeal to the UPF and KNO to refrain from killing innocent civilians and fratricidal killings as violence can never bring any solutions.
For the sake of humanity, for the sake of peace, for the sake of harmony, for the sake of the future of our people,” KIM statement said .
“The Almighty who judges all actions and motives, who knows the secrets of our heart is to be acknowledged.
Let us live a life as a people that is pleasing to Him that we may enter into the blessing that He has in store for us.
The need of the hour is the abstinence from the path of shedding blood amongst ourselves .
There is nothing that cannot be solved by talking it over and praying about it.
Let us regard the sanctity of human life,” it said .
“The killing of Nengneingah Khongsai, a student, by a KNA cadre is a shock to all and KIM condemns the terrible crime and pleads for justice to be delivered in its fullness.
The KIM fervently pleads to all involved in rampant taking of human lives to desist from such atrocities in future,” the statement said.
