Imphal, December 23 2012:
Expressing serious concern over the developing situation in the state, newly appointed President of BJP Manipur Pradesh, Thounaojam Chaoba has alleged that it is an outcome of the non-responsive manner of the state government.
Only if the government has acted in time, the issue could have been averted without any incident.
Keeping in view of the prevailing tense situation, BJP national leaders will meet Prime Minister and Union Home Minister to press for handing over Lt Col Livingstone to the state government, Chaoba said, while speaking to mediapersons today.
He decried the molestation of actress Momoco in front of the public by NSCN (IM) cadre Livingstone as an inhuman act and said that it is also a disgrace to the army officers and State police personel who witnessed the whole scene without doing anything to save the prestige of the actress.
Chaoba asserted that signing a ceasefire agreement and undergoing peace talks with the Government of India does not mean that any NSCN (IM) cadre can do anything they want in Manipur.
Will the state government stand still and enjoy if they attack the Manipur State Assembly, simply because they are under peace talk with the government?, he questioned, and demanded to know why the State Government is still hesitate from arresting Livingstone.
Chaoba also appealed to the people to restrain themselves from inciting any communal tension.
