Lamka, October 23 2013:
At least five top ranking leaders of Salvation Army, a Christian denomination organised in a quasi-military structure, appeared before the Court of CJM Churachandpur today on double criminal charges filed by the Church's local members.
The Church leaders who were based in Mizoram but appeared before the local Court here included Colonel Naomi Lalngaihawmi, Territorial Commander; Lt-Colonel Lalramhluna, Chief Secretary & TSWM; Lt Colonel Lalbuliana, Personal Secretary and Lt Colonel Khaizading, Programme Secretary.
They were the members who head the Indian Eastern Territory of the Church.
Sources said that recently a case of money laundering or fraud and the subsequent cases of distributing pamphlets among the local Church members and the territorial leaders have apparently gone sour leading to the case ending up in the court.
All the Church leaders who appeared before the court today were summoned on charges of criminal cases under section 500 (section 34) and another case of criminal conspiracy under section 161/162/164 and 447A (section) 120B, added the source.
