Imphal, December 21 2010:
A 33-year old man was stabbed to death at Langol Housing Complex under Lamphel Police Station, allegedly by a father and son of the same locality.
P Kamsonlin Gangte (33) son of P Patie Gangte of Langol Housing Complex was hospitalized with severe injuries resulting from an assault by Jangguilal Mate (18) and his father Thanga Mate over a quarrel last night around 8.30 pm.
He succumbed to his injuries early this morning around 5 am.
Police accused Jangguilal, his father Thanga (40) and Boinu (33) from Churachandpur residing at a quarter at the housing complex.
The main accused Jangguilal and Boinu were arrested by the police today while Thanga who too sustained injuries is yet to be arrested.
It is reported that Thanga is being treated at Shija Hospital and that he will be arrested soon after his health condition improves, a police source said.
Reports said that the victim Kamsonlin had a quarrel with Jangguilal.
Thanga, the father of Jangguilal intervened and attacked Kamsonlin charging him of assaulting his son frequently for no reason.
While his father overpowered Kamsonlin, Jagguilal took out a knife and stabbed Kamsonlin.
The victim received five stab marks, one in the left abdomen and four in the back.
In the attack Thanga was also slashed by the knife.
Instead of stopping the assault, Jagguilal's mother Boinu slapped Kamsonlin repeatedly in the face as he lay injured, the report said.
While arresting Jagguilal and his mother Boinu, police seized a knife suspected to be used by the accused in the assault.
Meanwhile, the postmortem examination of Kamsonlin was conducted today and his mortal remains were handed over to his family.
