Imphal, February 21 2009:
With the latest report over the arrest of the three missing officials who were kidnapped along with Dr Kishan and two of his subordinates, the JAC today reiterated its stand of demanding clarification from the Manipur government's findings over the involvement of NSCN (IM) in the killings within the stipulated deadline.
In a statement, the JAC conveners, Shubangkar, Y Khemchand and Y Kapur said that consequent upon the strong public demand and relentless agitation, the state Works Minister, K Ranjit Singh and PDA Chairman, Dr Loken have communicated around 9 this morning to the bereaved families and the JAC that the three missing staff Ramsing Siro, Ramthing Shinglai and Kapangkhun Zimik were apprehended from Tolloi in Ukhrul district.
At this juncture, the point that the JAC would like to raise is why the three staff did not report to their Office after being released by the abductors, the JAC said in a statement.
It further said that the fact that they remained hiding instead of reporting the matter shows that they have been threatened from doing so.
It added that the state government is duty bound to come out with a clarification on its findings on the involvement of NSCN (IM) in the brutal killings within the set deadline of 48 hours in accordance with the resolution adopted during the public meeting held at the Nityananda Mandop, Yumnam Leikai on February 20 last.
The statement also urged the State and Central Governments to take up the matter at the highest official level since the triple murder was an act of terrorism committed by the Naga rebel group which is holding peace talks with the GOI.
It further appealed the public to restrain from indulging in any activity that would be detrimental to communal harmony in the state.
