Kiran found murdered

Imphal, March 19 2013:
Thokchom Kiran, a driver, whose whereabouts remained unknown since March 14 after he had gone along with two persons, who hired his Tata Iris for taking a patient to hospital, was found murdered in a fish farm at Komlakhong Konungma Makha leikai under Mayang Imphal Leikai today.
In protest against the killing, a large number of angry local residents blocked the Imphal-Moreh road stretch of the National Highway-2 at Thongju Boroi Makhong area.
According to reports, 28-year old Thokchom Kiran, s/o Th Irabot of Koirou Mamang Leikai, Thongju Part II went missing since March 14 after he went out with one VD personnel identified as Phuleibam Sabir (37), s/o Abdul Hussain of Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai and one Rifleman of 7th MR namely Makakmaytum Salim (37), s/o Abdul Kahir of the same locality, in his Tata Iris (MN01X/8459) for taking a patient to the hospital.
On the following day, Salim and Sabir handed over the vehicle to the family members saying that Kiran could not be traced after he got down from his vehicle.
Suspicious of the matter, the family members lodged a complaint with the police.
Subsequently, Salim and Sabir were pulled up for questioning, but police could not trace the whereabouts of Kiran.

Today, two teams of Manipur Police with OC of Irilbung Police and Mayang Imphal OC carried out an intensive search operation in Komlakhong Konuma Makha Leikai.
During the search operation, the body of Kiran was found lying with his head dipped inside the fish farm of one Md Majauddin around 1 pm.
Before police could reach the residence of Md Majauddin, irate locals burnt down the house of Md Majauddin.
Soon after the news of the recovery of Kiran's lifeless body spread, irate locals came out and blocked Imphal-Moreh road stretch of the National Highway 2 in Thongju Boroi Makhong area.
Police personnel tried to disperse the agitated crowd but failed to do so.
Later, MLA Th Bishwajit of Thongju A/C and MLA Thamarjit of Keirao A/C along with some of the delegates of the JAC formed against the killing met the Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum.
Meanwhile, some locals of Irilbung reportedly detained two persons who were bringing food for Salim and Sabir and interrogated them.
Later on, the two persons were rescued by the police and took them into custody to avoid any unwanted incident.
Though Sabir and Salim were arrested by the police for questioning, both of them have been remanded to police custody till March 21.But Md Majauddin, who is the prime suspect of the case and in whose fish farm the body of Kiran was found, is still on the loose.
The police and commandos are in high alert along Imphal-Moreh road extending from Kakwa to Lilong to prevent any communal flare over the incident.
