Ex-servicemen rally towards 2nd innings

Under the aegis of the Red Shield Division, the Ex-Servicemen (ESM) rally conducted from December 16 concluded today at Leimakhong Military garrison with the theme "Towards Happy and Contented Second Innings".
The ESM rally was graced by Governor V Shanmuganathan as the chief guest while GOC Spear Corps Lieutenant General Abhay Krishna, GOC Red Shield Division Major General PN Rao and Major General VS Srinivas, IGAR (South) including civil and military officials were the other dignitaries.
The rally witnessed large participation by ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and children.
The rally is essential to address the grievances of all ESM and to disseminate information on various welfare schemes of the Central and State Governments and the army, stated Governor V Shanmuganathan while addressing the gathering.
He lauded the efforts of the Red Shield Divison in getting together the ESM under one umbrella.
The Governor and GOC Spear Corps released a booklet "Welfare Schemes by Central Government Army" which covers various schemes and benefits given to ESM by the Central Government.
Lieutenant General Abhay Kumar said that the welfare of ESM, Vee Naris and World War-II veterans will be given top most priority .
He stressed on wide publicity of various Cen tral/ State/ army welfare schemes for the ESM.
Honouring the supreme sacrifices made by army personnel of the State, he said that the Nation will never forget their deeds towards safeguarding the country.
He added that the army will continue to provide different schemes for the bereaved families and ESM.
He stated that the State Government should come up with plans of creating re-employment for the ESM in the coming days as there are many capable ESM with adequate qualifications for various job opportunities.
The ESM rally witnessed honouring of World War-II veterans and Chakra Awardees.
Financial assistance was distributed to select ESM as financial assistance by a New Delhi based NGO 'Flag of Honour Foundation'.
The Red Shield Division in association with the State administration and corporate houses set up 46 stalls for the ESM to address their issues such as Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Cell.
The stalls also provided an "Online Registration Counter" for ESM to register for project 'Savigya' .
