Imphal, September 16 2011:
AMSU has appealed to all the shop keepers and shop establishments of the state not to sell goods at high price taking advantage of the ongoing economic blockade failing which their shops will be shut down.
Speaking at a press conference held at its office at DM College campus, Thangmeiband, Dipanjit Ningthoujam, President, AMSU said that the deadline given by AMSU to the state government to fix the prices of essential commodities expires today.
AMSU volunteers went to Thangal Bazar and checked the price of goods but none were aware of the government's price.
This shows that the government has not yet declared the fixed price.
He further said that the shops were selling goods at the price of their choice.
This has caused a lot of troubles to the common people.
The shopkeepers should sell goods at the rate which was sold before the economic blockade.
Shops found selling goods at high price will be dealt seriously.
Their shops will be closed down.
The volunteers of AMSU also came across huge number of goods in the godowns at different shops in Thangal bazaar.
Although there are goods in plenty in these shops the shopkeepers are reluctant to sell them out.
The government should check those hoarding of goods.
