Coming after several warnings by the concerned authority against wrongful parking of vehicles in Paona Bazar, the windshield of a Maruti car parked in a no parking area in Paona Bazar was smashed by security personals this morning.
The incident occurred at around 8.30 am this morning near Videocon House in Paona Bazar.
Onlookers who witnessed the scene told mediapersons that a team led by a police officer of the Imphal West police station had warned owners of vehicles not to park in Paona Bazar area beforehand using loudspeakers.
The police team had time and again requested the owners of the vehicles whose vehicles were parked in the no parking zone to remove their respective vehciles.
Some of the owners who heard the police requests removed their vehicles while some still remained unattended.
The team of police went to every shop nearby in search of the owners whose vehicles were still parked in the no parking zone.

The search went on for about half an hour without any success.
Outraged at the situation a police personnel smashed the windshield and side glass of a car parked in the no parking area.
He also pushed down all two wheelers parked in the area, said the onlooker.
Moments later the owner of the car arrived at the scene and there was a verbal exchange between him and the police personnel.
Later the car was taken to the city police station along with the owner and an amicable agreement was reached at.
Protesting the action of the police personnel shopkeepers organized a meeting in Paona bazar but it was foiled by the police.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur press club shopkeepers of Paona bazar, said that the government has not till now arranged a proper parking area in Paona bazar.
Customers are not allowed to park their vehicles even for a minute in front of shops which has led to a decrease in sale of their products.
So a proper parking most preferably in the Thoubal parking area at Nityaipat Chuthek must be provided.
