'Separate dept for foreign languages in MU soon'

Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS) Alumni Meet cum Management Convention 2017 on the theme "Developmental Challenges in Manipur & Responsible Management" was held today at Imperial Hall, Classic Grande .
Speaking as chief guest, Vice-Chancellor, MU, Professor Adya Prasad Pandey stated that students who are the future policy maker of the country should think innovatively for the betterment of institution, society and Nation as a whole .
He asserted that it is the major duty and responsibility of the teachers to guide the students in the right direction and manner so that they could contribute towards the society .
Teachers and students have equal duties and responsibilities towards bringing in quality education in school, colleges and universities.
The State is approaching towards a new dimension and development.
As such, we should be prepared to take maximum advantages of this opportunity, he observed .
The Professor sought support and cooperation of the people to make Manipur University a world class institute by opening a number of technical and professional courses by hiring good teachers and developing infrastructure of the university .
Stating that Manipur is the gate-way to South-East Asian countries, he declared that a separate department for foreign languages in the university will be created soon .
Dean, School of Social Sciences, MU, Professor Lokendra Singh who attended as guest of honour stated that Manipuris who are blessed with talents and skills can excel in any field .
He further stated that students and teachers of MIMS have uniqueness in the university.
He praised faculty members of the department for their excellent teaching and motivating the students .
Presiding over the function, Director, MIMS, Professor Ch Ibohal Meitei stated that every single day is an opportunity for learning and we should learn extensively .
Several faculty members of the department and alumni spoke at the occasion.
Khuraijam Krishnan Singh and Dr N Dhaneswar Singh gave welcome speech and keynote address respectively while Dr Kishorjit proposed vote of thanks in the function.
