Governor of Manipur Dr Najma Heptulla conveyed heartiest greetings to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of 71st Independence Day .
'While celebrating the country's independence, we should remember that we did not get out freedom on a platter.
We should be thankful to our brave forefathers whose love for their motherland and sacrifices made it possible.
As Indians, this is our duty and responsibility to treasure this hard earned freedom and work hard to make India a proud and developed country on the comity of nations,' the Governor said in a greeting message .
She also extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the State on the sacred occasion of Shri Krishna Janmastami, that celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna .
"On this day, let us remind ourselves of the tea- chings of Lord Krishna and propagate love and affection for all and usher in an era of peace and prosperity in Manipur," the Governor wished.
