Imphal, May 13 2012:
A hardware store in Lilong Bazaar was completely burnt to ashes and goods worth about Rs 10 lakhs were destroyed in a devastating blaze which broke out in the wee hours today.
The shop belonged to one Yengkhom Dhiren (42) of Lilong Chajing.
Since there was a table lamp being charged before the shop was closed yesterday evening, it is believed that the fire must have been caused due to faulty electric short circuit.
The fire tenders rushed to the spot soon after the news of the incident spread and fire fighters tried their level best to extinguish the fire.
The fire was extinguished after about half an hour.
However, none of the goods inside the shop could be saved.
