Imphal, October 12 2011:
Reacting against the ban imposed by Zeliangrong Union on organising State level Gaan-Ngai festival, State Level Gaan-Ngai Celebration Committee, Manipur has said that it is a matter of shame and contempt that Zeliangrong Union has outraged the yeoman service of the committee which has been in existence and rendering service since 2003 with support, recognition and assistance from the State Government.
The committee has been celebrating the festival keeping all the traditions and customs of Kabui Rongmei tribe alive and there has been no objection from any quarter.
The ban was actuated by greedy thought of a few meddle and some interlopers to lower the reputation and service of the State Level Gaan-Ngai Celebration Committee, which is most unfortunate, it added.
The committee further said that this clarification is released by the State Level Gaan-Ngai Celebration Committee, so that the minds of the right thinking members of the society may not be corrupted by such unfounded and baseless allegation of Zeliangrong Union, which is quite foreign and rather non-existent.
