Many continue to distribute essential items to underprivileged families

Amid total lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, many came out to help the underprivileged families by distributing food, essential items.
Assam Rifles
The Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), distributed relief materials to BPL families in Moreh today.
The statement by IGAR (South) informed that a total of 120 packages were distributed, with each package containing rice, flour, sugar, salt and fresh vegetables.
Due to COVID 19 and lockdown restrictions, the relief materials were handed over to the community leaders for further distribution to the affected families.
A majority of population in Moreh is financially dependent on move of goods from across Indo-Myanmar Border (1MB) under the Free Movement Regime (FMR) .
However, due to closure of International Border Gate No 2 for the last four months, the means of earning for these people have reduced drastically causing extensive financial hardships.
The contribution by the Assam Rifles was an attempt to further supplement the efforts of the Government under the 'Garib Kalyan Yojna'.
The community leaders expressed their gratitude towards the Assam Rifles for this noble cause.
Meanwhile, the 43 Assam Rifles also extended aid to poverty stricken families of Moreh town who are facing hardships owing to COVID-19 lockdown, reported our correspondent.
A team of 43 AR under the aegis of CO Sumit Sood distributed food packages containing rice, atta, salt, sugar and fresh vegetables to around 120 economically affected families.
The items were handed over to the respective community leaders for distribution.

COVID-19 Working Committee of Khurai Kendra distributed hand sanitizers and face masks to 45 clubs of the Constituency, today.
The sanitizers were distributed by the coordinator of the committee, Sanjenbam Amba to clubs' representatives during a simple function held at the residence of Khurai AC MLA, Leishangthem Susindro.
On the other hand, one Meitram Sanatomba, S/o Late Meitram Ibopishak Singh of Sega Road Takhel Leikai also distributed face masks and hand sanitisers to volunteers of the Social Development Association, Kangchup (SDAK), today.
Meanwhile, Cultural activist Pangambam Premjit (Leepun Khuman) along with members of the Diamond Club Wangkhei Ayangpalli distributed fresh vegetables to the families living in the containment zone area of Wangkhei Ayangpalli today.
Kakching
Kakchingkhunou Municipal Council Chairperson, Khumukcham Leima distributed edible items and face masks to 252 households of Ward no 3 of the Council, today.
Thoubal
BJP worker, Menjor Mangang in collaboration with Diamond Club distributed food items, face masks and hand sanitisers to locals of Khangabok Part-III Tatngkha Leikai and Nepra Company, who are undergoing home quarantine.
Kamjong
The Bhartia Infra Projects Limited (BIPL) too distributed food items to select households of Kamjong district.
It may be mentioned that the company is currently employed to repair certain road(s) in the district under the funding of North Eastern Council.
