Ukhrul, May 12 2015 :
Seemingly unaffected by the denial of tickets, two aspiring fellow candidates of the Naga Peoples' Front (NPF) for the 4-Nungbi Khullen Constituency in the ensuing ADC polls positively turned up to bless and vow their fullest support to the party candidate for the constituency K Dickson in a blessing ceremony held for the latter at the Nungbi Khullen Play Ground on Monday in Northern Ukhrul.
Peter R Shimray president NPF Chingai Unit and Luingam Shatsang secretary Divisional Unit NPF Ukhrul were two of the three aspiring candidates who sought party tickets for the upcoming ADC polls in the same constituency but had missed the ticket.
Asserting that they were not the least taken aback by the party Ticket Issueing Committee's decision to give the party ticket to K Dickson, Shimray and Shatsang said: "We strongly believe in holding firm to the party principles and we remain steadfast in supporting our party fellow and candidate Dickson in the upcoming ADC election" .
During the blessing function which marked the campaign kick-off for the NPF candidate in the 4-Nungbi Khullen constituency covering 7 northern villages, Paul Muinao Executive Member, NPF Manipur State Unit formally hoisted the party flag in the presence of candidate K Dickson, Rn Ramyo Vice President Division Unit Ukhrul NPF & Convenor Campaign ADC Election 2015, Peter R Shimray, Luingam Shatsang, Elvis General Secretary Youth Wing Divisional Unit NPF Ukhrul, Ashang Zingkhai Secretary Divisional Unit Ukhrul NPF & Strategy Convenor, K Prem VDC Chairman Nungbi Khullen Village and AS Shaingam headman Nungbi Khullen amongs others.
Meanwhile, Headman AS Shaingam ceremoniously blessed candidate Dickson by crowning him a Tangkhul traditional headgear along with his wife.
Appealing to the gathering crowd to give their valuable votes to the Nungbi NPF candidate, all the NPF party leaders in attendance expressed their confidence in unifying the seven villages under the constituency in particular and all the villages of the district in general by giving their collective mandate for NPF which stands for unity of the Nagas.
Refering to the party's relentless efforts to resolve the 70-years old Indo-Naga issue at the earliest, Paul Muinao said that NPF is contesting the ensuing ADC polls this time around because the prevailing situation has compelled it to do so.
Apart from the party leadership and workers, the blessing function was largely attended by church leaders, social leaders and people from the 7 villages.
Dissidence in BJP over ticket gives NPF a shot in the arm.
In what comes as a tremendous boost for the Naga Peoples' Front (NPF), General Secretary BJP Ukhrul district and elsewhile aspiring BJP candidate for Ukhrul North in the ensuing ADC polls Ngachan Raleng has resolved to extend full support to NPF candidate Admund Chiphang of the same constituency demonstrating his deep anguish and resenment toward the party's ticket distribution in the district.
The decision to this effect was announced by Raleng himself during a Consortium program held today at Community Hall, Alungtang in the district headquarters.
He then appealled to all his workers and well wishers to extend the same support to NPF candidate instead of BJP in his constituency.
Raleng informed that though he has not officially resigned from BJP, he has taken this extreme step because he wants to get across his deep resenment over the manner of ticket distribution which has caused a friction among many party workers.
Speaking at the function, former President BJP ukhrul district Benjamin Kasomwoshi alleged that rampant corruption in ticket distribution within the BJP party has left many faithfull party workers disgruntled, while adding that the denial of ticket to Raleng who has been serving the party since 2000 by the party high command in the upcoming ADC election is very unfortunate.
Meanwhile, Ukhrul North NPF candidate Chiphang has expressed his gratitude to Raleng for his decision to support NPF.
