One more accused in Pallel twin blasts held

Kakching, November 11 2013: One more accused in the twin IED blasts at Pallel on November 6 that left one migrant worker killed while six others injured has been reportedly arrested by Thoubal district police.

Talking to media in this connection today, SDPO Kakching AG Sharma identified the arrested accused as Angrung DS alias Arun Maring alias Khununglakpa (31) s/o of Modun DS of Langol Khunou, a self-styled lance corporal of the proscribed PREPAK (PRO) .

This was the second arrest made in connection with the twin IED blasts at Pallel.

Yesterday, Thoubal police claimed to have arrested one Modarsim DS alias Naphal (41) s/o Modun DS of Langol Khunou, Chandel district, who was allegedly involved in triggering the blasts.

The police officer informed that the accused was arrested by the district police from Kuraopokpi along with three IEDs similar to the ones seized from the possession of Modarsim DS alias Naphal yesterday and 10 detonators covered by a blue colour carbon paper in one plastic carry bag stripped with red, yellow, white and green colours.

One mobile phone handset 'LAVA' with one Airtel SIMS card was also seized from the possession of the arrested accused.

During preliminary interrogation, Angrung disclosed that he along with one Sharat Singh of Kakching Khunou and one Biky of Kumbi, who are also self-styled lance corporals of PREPAK (PRO) trained at Eastern Nagaland under 42nd batch had blasted the IEDs at Pallel on November 6 as instructed by Thoudam Jiten Singh s/o Thoudam Nabadweep of Maibam Leikai, Imphal West, who is a self-styled Captain of PREPAK (PRO) under the roof of CorCom with the intention to kill and drive out non-Manipuris from Pallel area, the SDPO Kakching added.

Meanwhile, the accused Modarsim DS alias Naphal, who was arrested yesterday in connection with the Pallel IED blasts yesterday, was produced before the court of CJM Thoubal today, which remanded him to police custody for 6 days.

On the other hand, Imphal West District Police Commandos arrested one active member of PREPAK identified as Chongtham Romenchandra alias Thabang (41) s/o Ch Meghachandra Singh of Pishum Oinam Leikai from Pishumthong Bazar area at around 7.10 am today, according to a statement issued by SP of Imphal West district K Jayanta.
