While cautioning not to hike price of essential items by taking undue advantage of the present turmoil in the state, Protection & Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) warned that government should be held responsible for any untoward incidents if items stocked at go-downs are sold at higher rates.
Speaking to media persons at its Wa-hengbam Leikai Lairembi Maning office, PPCM advisor Longjam Memchoubi lamented the recent violent ethnic clash between two communities and called upon the government as well as the people to strive to bring peace and normalcy in the state.
Another advisor of the committee Lourembam Nganbi contended that filing of a one sided case in the Supreme Court regarding the conflict would not be a right step and opined that withdrawing the case will be the right move.
Central as well as state government should probe the violence and punish the wrongdoers stringently.
Mothers as Well as community leaders of both the communities need to sit and talk together to bring an end to the violence, she maintained.
She further stated that PPCM along with like-minded organisations will look into price hike of essential items by traders taking undue advantages of imposition of curfew.
The press conference was also attended by PPCM advisors Maibam Purni-mashi and Yumnam Lairik Leima.
