Kidnapped boy freed

15-year-old Md Tarique Khan of Irong Khunou, who has been missing since May 2, has been freed by his kidnappers at Heiningsoipat yesterday.
Tarique told reporters that he went to Leima Shopping complex to buy some goods on May 2 .
He was kidnapped by three armed persons from near the shopping complex at around 1 pm the same day.
Tarique said that the kidnappers conversed each other in a tribal language and he was taken in a white coloured Maruti van to an unknown hilly area.
Tarique said that he was blindfolded and his mouth, hands and legs were tied inside the van.
The three persons kept him in a house at an unknown hilly area, Tarique said and added that he was beaten up when he enquired why he was held captive there.
After keeping him there for many days, the kidnappers freed him at Heiningsoipat at around 8.30 pm yesterday.
Convenor of the JAC constituted against the incident, Md Junab Ali questioned how a 15-year-old boy could be easily kidnapped in broad light from a busy street of Imphal.
Saying that the incident indicates that the security personnel are not vigilant enough to protect the common people, he urged the Government to instruct the security personnel to be alert.
He also urged the Government to trace the kidnappers and award befitting punishment at the earliest.
People of Irong Khunou would decide future course of agitation in a public meeting to be held soon, Junab said and added that JAC representatives met the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum yesterday.
