7th Mami Numit : Celebrating the Birth of Manipuri Cinema

Celebrating the birth of Manipuri cinema, the 7th Mami Numit was observed under the joint aegis of Manipuri Film Development Corporation (MFDC)and Film Forum, Manipur (FFM)at the auditorium of MFDC, Palace Compound today here today.
The observance was marked by offering of floral tributes to the departed souls of well known artists, film makers and cinematographers of the State along with felicitation of Padmashree Aribam Syam Sharma, a National Award Winner and presentation of Best Film Journalist Award to Sh Aken.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, A Syam Sharma stated that we have got the capability as well as the components to bring out good films based on our rich culture and tradition.
The only thing that is lacking is sincere approach on the part of the film makers.

He pointed out that though Manipur has shown outstanding skills in the field of Sports and Art and Culture and outsmarted all its counterparts throughout the country, the State still lags behind in the field of film making.
If we produce films based on the culture and tradition of Manipur, without thinking much about the profit that could be earned, perhaps we could gain a niche for ourselves in the field of film making as well.
Delivering the presidential speech of the observance, L Surjakanta Sharma, Chairman, Film Forum Manipur, announced that the ban which was imposed on the production of "Mihatpa-II" has been relaxed.
However, two cinema halls namely MP Cinema and Kipgen Cinema at Langathel have been banned indefinitely.
Screening of Ist Top Ten Manipur State Music Video Album Festival-2013 and presentation of Nongin Awards to Award Winning Music Video Album were other highlights of celebrating the birth of Manipuri cinema.
