Assam Rifles leads Fit India Movement

Units of HQ IGAR (South) organised the friendly football matches to promote the Fit India Movement at various parts of the State yesterday.
Kakching Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles organised Sugnu School Olympics under Fit India Movement at Sugnu in Kakching district.
The aim of the event was to spread awareness about the importance of physical fitness and healthy living.
A total of 250 students participated in the event which included 100 metres and 400 metres races, shot put and tug of war for both boys and girls in various categories.
The student participated with great zeal and enthusiasm, said a statement of PRO IGAR (South) today.
To honour and appreciate the winners, prizes were distributed, added AR.
Thoubal Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles also conducted a friendly football match at Khongjom village in Thoubal district.
Khongjom Company Operating Base (COB) organised the friendly football match with an aim of strengthening the bond and mutual trust between locals and security forces.
The match was played between Youth Club Phundrei and troops of Khongjom Company Operating Base (COB), said AR.
Both the teams were felicitated with tokens of appreciation, added AR.
