Imphal, February 09 2016:
Despite High Court and Supreme Court judgments, the State Government is yet to nullify the appointment of three regular Government college Principals.
Petitioners of the case said that MPSC issued an advertisement for the appointment of regular Principals of 25 Government colleges on March 27, 2013 .
Subsequently, Dr E Nixon, Dr A Nabachandra and Dr Md Raheijuddin were appointed as the Principals of Oriental College, Lilong Haoreibi College and Manipur College on November 14, 2014 .
However, FEGOCTA and AMCTA opposed these appointments alleging discrepancies in the recruitment process, the petitioners said.
A petition was filed by some senior college teachers against the appointment of three regular Principals.
Later on October 5, 2015, a Double Bench of Manipur High Court comprising Chief Justice LK Mohapatra and Justice N Kotishwar ordered cancellation of the appointment of three regular Government college Principals, the petitioners said.
Instead of obeying the order of the High Court, two Principals in connivance with the officials of Higher Education Directorate made an appeal to the Supreme Court regarding the matter.
Although the Supreme Court had upheld the High Court order in January this year, the State Government is yet to take up any action regarding cancellation of the appointments, the petitioners said.
