676 persons evacuated to Nagaland

Imphal, May 07 2023:
A total of 676 persons from Nagaland have been evacuated from violence-hit Manipur under 'Operation Kohima Calling' .
HQ IGAR (North), Kohima launched the operation which was led by Deputy Inspector General of IGAR (North) .
The officer led his team comprising about 80 personnel in coordination with the Nagaland State Government and Nagaland Police.
The team reached Imphal on May 6 .
Carrying out coordination of each and every aspect of the operation, the team started evacuating the people on the morning of May 7 from RIMS, Central Agricultural University, Manipur University and Koirengei.
A total of 676 persons including 341 families were evacuated during this process.
The team reached Kohima at around 1 pm and were received by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and other dignitaries.
Parents also arrived to receive their wards from the camp.
In his address, the Deputy CM announced a sum of Rs 5000 for every household evacuated.
He applauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles and the State Police and assured that many others who are still in Manipur will be evacuated soon.
DGP, Nagaland and IG AR (North) also addressed the gathering and shared details of the operation.
Angami Public Organisation and Angami Youth Organisation thanked the Government of Nagaland and the Assam Rifles for successfully completing the operation and prayed for the well being of everyone.
