Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated Central Bank of India, Phungyar branch, Kamjong virtually during a function today at the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
The newly inaugurated branch is the ninth Central Bank of India branch operating in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, N Biren said that opening the bank branch, which was a long standing demand of the people of Phungyar, would be of much help in implementing welfare schemes of the Government.
Opening of banks in remote areas is very important for bringing inclusive development in the State, he observed.
He further stated that cashless transactions and Direct Benefit Transfer have now become very common under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The CM also expressed gratitude to the bank officials for their contributions in making it easier for the villagers to access banking services by opening the branch.
The function was attended by Advisor to Chief Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan, Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, representatives of Central Bank of India, NABARD, Reserve Bank of India, State Bank of India and senior Government officials among others.
