Positivity rate spikes to 17 pc, 14 die

The single day positivity rate spiked to 17.03 per cent on Tuesday as the state reported 863 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 5069 samples along with 14 death cases.
Tuesday also reported 592 recoveries as the active caseload reached 6231 out of which 2296 are in home isolation and 2075 in CHICs.
A total of 804 patients were admitted to different hospitals as of Monday night out of which 304 are on oxygen support and 44 on ventilator support.
CCCs have 1056 patients with 97 on oxygen support.
According to official reports, the 863 new cases included 838 people (442 males & 396 females) from among the general population and 25 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (12), JNIMS (59), District Hospitals (591) and other testing centres (201).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (120), Imphal West (298), Thoubal (71), Bishnupur (73), Kakching (96), Ukhrul (10), Churachandpur (72), Chandel (16), Senapati (9), Tamenglong (16), Tengnoupal (27), Kamjong (1), Pherzawl (3), Noney (15), Jiribam (2) and Kangpokpi (9).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 14 Covid-19 deaths (7 males & 7 females) in the last 24 hours.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (2), Imphal East (5), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (1) and Kangpokpi (2).Five patients died at RIMS, three at JNIMS, two each at Shija Hospitals and home isolation, and one each at Raj Medicity and DH Thoubal.
The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1218 .
Six of the victims were in the age group of 60 years and one of them was a 12 years old male with congenital heart disease who died within 24 hours of testing positive for Covid-19.Four patients died within 24 hours of arrival at hospital and two within 48 hours.
Five victims did not have any co-morbid conditions while one of the victims had first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
The 592 patients discharged in the last 24 hours were from home isolation (218), RIMS (27), JNIMS (11), CCCs (139) and CHICs (197) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 73,581 (general population - 69,696 and CAPF personnel - 3,885) .
Number of recovered cases is 66,132 (general population - 62,346 and CAPF personnel - 3,786) and number of active cases is 6,231 (general population - 6,137 and CAPF personnel - 94) .
The recovery rate is 89.87 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1967 D-type and 485 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
District hospitals and government institutions have 472D and 97B filled cylinders while stock distribution made in the last 24 hours are Bishnupur (121D,4B), Chandel (33D,7B), Churachandpur (69D,0B), Senapati (44D,0B), Thoubal (66D,29B), Ukhrul (31D,18B), Tamenglong (20D,0B), Jiribam (48D,13B), Moreh (14D,4B), Kamjong (3D,2B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (12D,18B), Pherzawl (6D,2B), Noney (2D,0B) and CCCs (322D,121B).A record number of 30,476 people were administered Covid-19 vaccines on Monday taking the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 6,81,679 which include 87,428 people who have received their second shot.
Meanwhile, 81 new positive cases were detected out of 256 samples tested in Kakching district on Tuesday.
Six cases were detected at Ema Hospital, nine at Jivan Hospital and 66 at government RAT Centre.
One of them is from Chandel district while the remaining are residents of Kakching district.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (25,672), Imphal East (16,250), Thoubal (6204), Churachandpur (5948), Kangpokpi (1835), Tamenglong (2173), Bishnupur (4795), Senapati (1426), Ukhrul (1514), Kakching (3749), Chandel (1242), Noney (592), Tengnoupal (816), Jiribam (775), Kamjong (453), and Pherzawl (137).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (429), Imphal East (316), Thoubal (117), Churachandpur (99), Kangpokpi (32), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (89), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (69), Chandel (18), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (6), Jiribam (4), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 23,713 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 21,990 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,99,166 tests per million population against the national average of 3,02,383 TPM.
Case fatality rate remains at 1.66 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 5069 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 17.03 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 7.93 per cent.
