There has been no let up in the sit-in-protest demonstration over the Chandel incident in which film actress Momoco was reportedly molested and assaulted while two other male artistes namely Guna and Prakash were fired upon by Livingstone, a senior functional of NSCN (IM), during a musical concert at Chandel district headquarters on December 18 last.
Continuing to exert pressure on the State Government to arrest Livingstone for awarding befitting punishment in accordance to the law of the land, Thouda Bhabok Leikai Women Development Society organized a mass sit-in-protest at Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai today.
Addressing the gathering comprising volunteers of Chingmi-Tammi Apunba Lup, Nupi Samaj, Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and Kangleipak Women Welfare Association, President of Kangleipak Women's Welfare Association Ak Memcha stated that until and unless the State and Central Government arrest and give befitting legal punishment to Livingdtone, the agitation of the people will never cease.
She pointed out that the drivers plying along the National Highways have on many occasions been mercilessly beaten and robbed of their money by armed cadres of NSCN-IM.
However, no actions have been ever taken up by the concerned authority in spite of numerous complaints and agitations.
"Feeling that the NSCN-IM has crossed the limit this time, the general public and the CSOs of the State have come together and launched the agitation", she said adding "they (armed NSCN (IM) cadres) should be taught a lesson so that no such incidents come up in future" .
Festoons and placards which read "arrest and punish Livingstone at the earliest", "punish those involved in Napetpalli incident", "State Government should urge Centre to revoke cease fire agreement with NSCN-IM", "abolish all the designated camps of NSCN-IM from the soil of Manipur where the cease fire does not extend" and "punish the police personnel involved in killing journalist Dwijamani" etc, were seen being used during the protest demonstration.
