Imphal, May 05 2017:
Imphal bound loaded oil tankers and LPG bullets which are currently stranded at Khatkhati, Assam would be escorted to Imphal tomorrow amid tight security arrangements.
Following repeated attacks by militants on convoys of oil tankers escorted by CRPF at Kangpokpi area, tanker drivers launched cease work strike but the agitation was called off after they struck an agreement with the Government.
Since the last firing attack which left some drivers injured, neither empty tankers have left Imphal nor have loaded tankers moved to Imphal.
Nonetheless, around 200 loaded oil tankers and LPG bullet tankers currently stranded at Khatkhati would be proceeding toward Imphal with CRPF escorts tomorrow.
Meanwhile, stringent security measures have been put in place between Mao and Sekmai of Imphal-Dimapur highway.
Apart from CRPF and Assam Rifles troops deployed on Mao-Sekmai section, additional State forces including 20 commando teams led by one DIG and two COs would be deployed along the same section, added the source.
