Imphal, February 04 2017:
A presidential council meeting of the United Naga Council (UNC) will be held on February 7 and the question of whether the ongoing economic blockade would be lifted or substituted by another mode of agitation would be decided at the meeting.
The UNC delegates who took part in the tripartite meeting held yesterday at Delhi involving the Government of India and the State Government would table a report at the presidential meeting, informed a well placed source.
The presidential council would decide the next course of action after deliberating on the delegation's report.
Notably, the ongoing indefinite economic blockade was imposed in accordance with a decision of the presidential council.
Even as the UNC delegation demanded revocation of the State Government's order which created seven new districts at yesterday's tripartite meeting, the State Government officials maintained that the seven new districts were created in accordance with a Cabinet decision.
They also made it clear that it requires another Cabinet decision if the order to create the seven new districts must be revoked.
But the existing Government is a care-taker Government, the State Government officials informed the UNC leaders.
Pointing out that a new popular Government would be installed after the election by March 20 or later, officials of the Union Home Ministry who took part in the tripartite meeting proposed to hold the next round of tripartite meeting on March 25, conveyed the source.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the UNC delegates who are currently at Delhi have been holding several rounds of meetings amongst themselves.
