World Disabled Day observed at Chandel

As in other parts of the globe, the World Disabled Day was also observed today at the Laiching Minou Village Community Hall in Chandel District.
The programme was organised by District Social Welfare Officer, Chandel and attended by Dr Y Rajendra Singh, Joint Director/ D.V.O, Chandel and W.Meran Chairman, Laiching Minou Village Authority as Chief Guest and Functional President respectively.
Around 200 Disabled persons attended the function during which the Chief Guest presented gifts to them.
The Manipur State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Deaf and Mute School, Takyel observed the 'Disability Day' at the premises of the school here today with Retd Justice Maibam Binoykumar Singh, Judge of Gauhati High Court and Director of Manipur Judicial Academy, Takyel; K Tuleshwar Singh, Headmaster, Deaf and Mute School; A Guneshwar Sharma, District and Sessions Judge, Manipur East and Chandam Brajachand Singh, Member Secretary, Manipur State Legal Services Authority attending as the Chief Guest, President and Guests of Honour respectively.
Dr Ch Narendra Singh, Advocate and Ch Momon Singh, Adocate were also present during the observance and they delivered speeches on Rights of Differently Able Persons and Right to Education for Children respectively.
Addressing the gathering, M Binoykumar stated that the Disability Day is being observed with an objective to access to justice to all especially the underprivileged be available and added that the disabled persons also have their legal rights and they could seek the same.
A Guneshwar said the State Government recognized the grievances of disabled persons and pointed out that 3 percent seat reservation has been set aside for them in the State Civil Services examination.
During the observance, exercise books and pens were presented to the students of the school.
