Show-cause notices served to NGOs
Nearly 300 State NGOs may face cancellation of registration

Imphal, November 02 2014:
As many as 291 Non-Government Organisations of Manipur are among the 568 NGOs based in the north eastern states which were served show cause notices by the Union Home Ministry for failing to file annual returns of foreign funds received by them.
Altogether 10,331 foreign-funded NGOs across the country have been issued the notices on Friday.
Out of the NGOs, Manipur shares the highest with 291, followed by Assam with 130, Nagaland with 56, and Meghalaya with 34.Other north eastern states, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Tripura shared 28, 15 and 14 NGOs respectively in the list published by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In case no reply is received from the said associations within a stipulated period, action for cancellation of registration granted to the association will be initiated under Section 14(1)(d) of the FCRA 2010 .
The NGOs which may face cancellation of registration include Manipur States Scouts Union, Singjamei Wangma in Imphal East District; Manipur State Council For Child Welfare Moirangkhom, Imphal West; Manipur Horse Riding & Polo Association, RIMS Ring Road, Lamphelphat, Imphal West; MBC High School Christian Centre Church, Imphal; Leprosy Patients Welfare Society Chingmeirong Lei-Ingkhol, Mantripukhri; Kuki Baptist Convention D M Road, Imphal; Komlathbi Baptist Church Pallel, Komlathbi, Chandel; El Shadai Hope Salem Hanse, Paite Veng, Imphal; All Manipur Women Social Reform & Development Palace Compound; All Manipur Women Voluntary Services Sagolband, Moirang Mayum Leirak, Imphal; and All India Women's Voluntary Services Paona Bazar, Imphal.
All the 291 NGOs of Manipur have not submitted their mandatory annual returns to the government for the years 2009-2010, 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 .
