Ex-servicemen are true symbols of hardwork and sacrifice: Education Minister

Expressing the utmost gratitude to the ex-servicemen, Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam expressed that they are the "true symbols of hard-work and sacrifice" who have sacrificed the 'prime-time' of their lives working hard to safeguard the motherland.
It is because of the sacrifices and efforts of the ex-servicemen and men in armed forces that the whole Nation could rest in peace and prosper, the Minister said while speaking at the "Felicitation to Benefactors of Ex-Servicemen, Manipur" held at Rajya Sainik Board Manipur, Lamphel, organised by the Armed Forces Ex Servicemen Association Manipur, (AFESAM) .
Making contribution to the welfare fund of ex-servicemen, Th Radheshyam assured that the facilities that need to be brought about for the welfare of the Ex Servicemen will be put before the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues.
Ex-servicemen are one of the true assets of the Nation whose stories of struggle and sacrifices have inspired and motivated the youths, he said.
He opined that the ex servicemen of Manipur whose population is nearly 11,000 are the torch bearer for the youths being fine examples of discipline and courage.
Retd Lt Gen L N Singh highlighted that there are many schemes and facilities being implemented for the welfare of the ex-servicemen that need to be applied in Manipur too.
He said that the Government of India has laid down reservations for the defence ex-servicemen in Government jobs.
Zila Sainik Boards should be established at district level too, he said explaining that the boards will serve as nodal agencies for solving grievances of all ex-servicemen.
The programme was attended by dignitaries, retired defence ex servicemen from different parts of the State.
Family members and next of kin of ex-servicemen were honoured at the event.
