The Working Group of the Apunba Lup, while admitting holding of another round of talks with the government today, said that government has made it clear that they could agree with the demand of resignation of Chief Minister, O Ibobi or he relief himself from home portfolio.
Even though some of the demands are not fulfilled, the body has submitted a fresh 13 point demands for reconsideration by the government and to bring an end to the four month old impasse with some revision to the stance of both side, a statement of agitating body said.
In the demand put forward today includes resignation of Chief Minister or vacate home portfolio from him, transfer of DGP, suspension of SP, Imphal West or transfer of SP outside the state, suspension of additional SP, Imphal west.
Immediate legal proceeding against those already suspended police personnel, expansion of the ongoing one man Agarwal inquiry commission to a three man inquiry commission and modification of the terms of reference of the inquiry, simultaneous commissioning of both Judicial inquiry commission and CBI investigation in the July 23 shooting incident were also among the demands.
Completion of the ongoing inquiry commission within a certain stipulated time and written commitment in the form of cabinet decision to punish those person indicted by the inquiry commission with necessary stringent action without any partiality within 15 days from the submission of the inquiry report is also another point of demand included, the statement said.
Other demands include firm written assurance from the government to stop and prevent any kind of fake encounter in Khwairamband firing incident, unconditional release of all those arrested persons in connection with the 23/7 and subsequent "peaceful" agitation, to hand back all the materials collected from the member organization of Apunba Lup immediately and to take up necessary steps from the government side for protection of all these witness so as to appear before the commission without any fear.
While reiterating the demands, the Apunba Lup expressed that the impasse could be ended if the body as well as government relax their stances to some extend.
Apunba Lup believed that government will take of steps to deliver justice to the people with regard to the July 23 incident.
The second round of talks was held yesterday.
In the talks, three ministers, K Ranjit, N Biren, L Jayentakumar and MLA Kh Loken attended from the government side while apart from representatives of Apunba Lup, leaders of the three students' bodies, AMSU, MSF and KSA, JACs of both Sanjit and Rabina killing participated in the meeting, the statement claimed.
