Imphal, March 01 2017:
Taking serious note of the sale of adulterated and expired eatable items by shopkeepers in markets, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has warned of taking up befitting action against those shopkeepers who sell such eatable items that are hazardous to health.
In a press release, MSF said it has been carrying out drives at Thangal and Paona Markets under the aegis of Joint Students' Coordinating Committee (JSCC) to check the malpractice.
It claimed that varieties of expired eatable items were seized in its drive conducted in the two markets.
Saying that sale of such dangerous eatable items came at a time when people are facing shortage of essential commodities due to the ongoing blockade, MSF asked those businessmen who are selling daily need items at a higher price taking advantage of the blockade to immediately stop the practice.
If not then the student body will take up strict action against those mischievous businessmen, it cautioned.
