Imphal, November 30 2019:
Manipur will progress and become self reliant if all the districts in the State are developed like Kakching district where there are about 140 roads, 280 drains, 24 hour electricity, efficient distribution of water and people from young to the aged, have healthy work culture.
This was stated by Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation advisor, Associate Professor Pukhrambam Somorendro to The Sangai Express today at his residence in Kakching Ningthou Leikai.
He continued that the previous Government created seven new districts which brought the total number of districts in the State to 16, including Kakching district.
Initially before the declaration of the area as a district, the road and bridges or the connectivity options of Kakching side were not in good conditions.
Somorendra claimed that the incumbent MLA of Kakching AC, after winning the election, took up several developmental works including black topping of 140 roads and local roads under PMGSY, which transformed the once dilapidated roads into brand new ones.
Meanwhile, around 280 drains were also constructed on either side of the roads, he further claimed.
On the other hand, Kakching Municipal Council, along with active participation of the locals and ward members, have been organising cleanliness competition and activities even before the formation of the district, he added.
Talking about garbage disposal, the advisor stated that the Kakching Municipal Council collects the garbage from each home and deposits the garbage at a new dumping site at Marangba Ching (previously at Uyok Ching).
He further stated that among the existing 12 schools in the district, four are Government schools and the remaining eight are private schools while primary schools are present in the district as well.
The CHC located at Kakching Mahadev foot hills has been upgraded into a district hospital while a 133 KV sub station and a 33 Kv sub station are established at Heikakpokpi and Angan Chingjel respectively with over 100 electric transformers, he told The Sangai Express.
These sub stations provide 24 hour power supply to the people of the district.
The total population of Kakching district is around 40,000 with 28,000 eligible voters, he said while adding that PDS items are being distributed to the people on time as well.
While Kakching holds first position for being the largest producer of rice, other produces like potato, dal, sugarcane and other seasonal crops are also being produced from time to time in the district, said the advisor of the organisation.
Following the footsteps of the forefathers by continuing healthy work culture in the district, majority of the denizens in Kakching are Government employees, including five IAS, two IPS, two IIS, 30 bank employees and others working outside the State.
