District level WinG conference held

Integrated Rural Management Association (IRMA) organised a district level WinG (Women in Governance) conference cum legal awareness programme on the topic 'empowering women - empowering humanity' today at Amity hall, Adimjati, Chingmeirong.
Chief guest of the event Tamenglong ADC member Hatlhing Doungel, during her speech at the conference said women's participation in decision making and peace building in the society cannot be doubted.
On the growing rate of crime against women in the Nation, Hatlhing said various organisations have come up with the sole aim to help women.
However, she added, women also need to stay alert and understand their right to avoid such issues.
Special invitee of the event AMLAA president Laishram Rebeda, during her speech, said awareness is the key solution to all the problems faced by women.
It is necessary that women understand their legal rights.
The growing rate of crime against women can only be curbed when both the sexes are made aware of the legal implications that follow any kind of violence, Rebeda added.
Kuki Women Union, Manipur president Rose Mangshi Haokip, Advocate Akham Kom, former MSCW member June Rose, social activist Panti Golmei and Advocate Y Romola were also present at the conference cum legal awareness programme held today.
