Training programme on sericulture conducted

Inauguration programme of 'Technology Orientation cum farmers' skill training on sericulture' was held at MSP conference hall, Sangaipat today.
Organised jointly by the Director of Sericulture, Government of Manipur and Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the programme was graced by Dr BK Singh, Director, CMERT and TI, Lahdoigarh, Jorhat, L Bidyapati Devi, Scientist _D and Head, RTS, Imphal and S Kunjakishore Singh, Director of Sericulture, Manipur as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, Dr BK Singh said that the 3-day training programme has been organised with an aim to train the farmers on how to increase the yield of silk and generate sustainable income.
"There is unemployment issue in the State which can be partly solved by venturing into silk farming.
The silk produced can be sold not only in the local markets but outside the State as well.
Let us try to produce quality silk in order to achieve that goal," he added.
