Violators detained

Imphal, June 28 2021:
175 SOP violators were detained and a fine of Rs 70,350/- (Rs seventy thousand, three hundred and fifty only) were collected by Manipur Police today from across the State.
Imphal West had the highest number of SOP violators with 77 followed by Thoubal and Bishnupur with 44 and 26 respectively.
The Police had been keeping a strict vigil on violation of SOP as mandated by the Government and Disaster Management Authority in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places etc.
to prevent the spread of the virus.
Despite the increase in penalty, many continue to violate the SOP.
Till today, the Police Department has collected a sum of Rs 2,34,71,610 (Rs two crore, thirty four lakh, seventy one thousand, six hundred and ten only) as fines from 1,49,034 SOP violators.
The Police Department reminded the public that those who violate SOP shall be dealt with strong legal actions under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
