Prima facie evidence found against Prof Sekharjit? Preliminary enquiry concludes

Preliminary enquiry into the alleged wrongdoings committed when Head, Urology Department Prof Dr S Sekharjit was the RIMS Director has concluded.
In accordance to the findings of the preliminary en- quiry, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (NE Section) Under Secretary Murari Lal Sharma has written a memorandum to Prof Dr S Sekharjit asking him to submit a detail clarification on all the charges levelled against him within ten days counting from the day the memorandum is received.
Complaints about violation of rules and procedures laid down by the Government of India and other irregularities committed at RIMS when Prof S Sekharjit was the Director reached the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from different quarters, informed a well placed source.
Acting on these complaints, a competent authority of the Ministry constituted a special enquiry committee.
The special committee, after selecting six complaints, launched an enquiry.

The first compplaint selected for enquiry was about inordinate delay in appointing Dr M Amuba to the post of RIMS Medical Superintendent.
The second complaint was about anomalies committed at the time of appointing staff nurses.
The third complaint pertains to discrepancies com- mitted during appointment of Lecturers and Tutors.
The fourth complaint pertains to violation of rules in appointing Dr Sekharjit's wife Dr N Damayenti as the Principal of College of Nursing, RIMS.
The fifth complaint was about anomalies committed at the time of appointing LDCs.
The sixth complaint was against appointment of Dr N Damayenti as the Head, Department of Anatomy and removal of 15 senior Professors from their respective posts of being Heads of Departments.
The special committee investigated into the six complaints over a period of several months.
They also called and took statements of high-ranking RIMS officials.
According to the findings of the preliminary enquiry, there are prima facie evidence about many irregularities committed by Dr Sekharjit when he was the RIMS Director.
There are ample evidence that Dr Sekharjit violated Rule No 3 of the CCS (Conduct) Rules.
Before the competent authority can take a final decision, Dr Sekharjit has been served a memorandum returnable within 10 days asking him if there is any reason why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him.
