Imphal, September 22 2014:
Condemning the land demarcation by the people of Andro on September 17, the Maring Uparup Assembly (MUA) has stated that the land demarcation was carried out in the territory of Sandang Senba Maring village, said a press release issued by the MUA.
Even though Sandang Senba Maring village comes under Senapati district, it also comes under the jurisdiction of MUA, the release contended.
It further stated that the village was established during the British rule in Manipur.
The people of Andro and the Maring village have been living together in peace and harmony since time immemorial.
It is very unfortunate for both to come across such a situation, the statement lamented.
The MUA proposed to the people of Andro to live together peacefully like they have been living until now.
The people of Andro must respect the territory of their neighbouring villages and if at all the Andro people attempt to subjugate the people of Maring village again, it would not stay quiet, MUA asserted.
