Biswajit bats for sincere effort and determination

Works Minister Thongam Biswajit has urged all the youth for a sincere effort and strong determination towards bringing positive changes in the society while asserting that the BJP led Government has given more importance on the impetus and workforce of youth in building a strong and powerful Nation.
Speaking as the chief guest during the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Majorkhul Young Association (MYA) organized at Majorkhul today, Biswajit noted that 65 percent of the total population of the country is comprised of youth and opined that bringing development in a State or in a country is not possible by the Government alone, but requires collective and sincere endeavour from both the Government and the youth.
One must honour, respect and preserve the good values of one's community, he said while cautioning that modern living standard may adversely affect traditions, cultures and other values.
Pointing out that education is must in a society to bring desirable changes, Biswajit said that history is a source of knowledge and experience.
Beauty and uniqueness of a State lies in the diversity of its ethnic groups having their own religion, culture, customs and traditions.
Biswajit further maintained that one should also have a liberal mind set and accept that all people belong to a common race called human beings.
He then called for peaceful coexistence of all communities residing in the State and urged them to strive together to bring development in Manipur by leaving aside differences of caste, religion and culture.
Speaking at the event, the Minister assured that all possible efforts will be made to improve the infrastructure of Majorkhul, including proper maintenance of drainage system and road conditions.
He also conveyed that he is considering transforming the locality into the tidiest one in Imphal City.
Professor Meijinlung Kamson, who is also a former Union Minister of State (Home Affairs), informed that MYA was formed in 1950 by some youth, including him, with the objective of bringing development to Majorkhul.
Kabui community have been residing in the surrounding areas of Imphal valley, including the Old Assembly road, MG Avenue, Indira Park, Johnstone School etc since long time back with the approval from the King of the land.
They were scattered in various parts of the State during the 7 years devastation and on multiple occasions after the British invasion of the State, he narrated and added that the community has endured many painful situations meted out by the Awas and British.
He continued that Major Khul was named after Major Maxwell, the then British officer who led the British controlled Manipur.
The present Thangal bazar was also known as Maxwell bazar during those times and a few schools were set up in Majorkhul when it became known as Majorkhul at around 1945.He also asked the present members of MYA to maintain discipline and to carry out social activities.
The function was presided by ex-Deputy CM and present Nungba A/C MLA, Gaikhangam.
IMC's Deputy Mayor Sujata Phaomei was also among many others who attended the event as the guests of honour.
Unveiling of MYA diamond jubilee monument, release of a souvenir by the chief guest, unfurling of MYA flag by the functional president, a two minute silence observation for the departed souls of deceased MYA members and showcasing of various cultural dances, marked today's function.
