Imphal, June 20 2021:
Continuing the war of words centred on the fuel price hike issue, BJP chief spokesperson Ch Bijoy has said that the NDA government is bearing interest for a debt of Rs 1.44 lakh crore of the UPA era oil bond.
Addressing a press meet through video conference on Sunday, Bijoy said that the Congress party purchased oil bonds of Rs 1.44 lakh crore which the NDA inherited.
Not only this, NDA also paid Rs 70,000 crore on interest alone.
In total, the NDA government is discharging its responsibility by repaying over Rs 2 lakh crore.
Despite this, Congress party is trying to mislead the public, he said while demanding apology from MPCC president MLA Govindas for this recent remarks against the incumbent government.
He recalled that in September 2012, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that money does not grow on trees, which is more or less same with the 'money does not fall from sky' remarks made by chief minister N Biren.
Trinamool Congress withdrew from UPA due to the remarks made by the former PM, Bijoy claimed.
Asking why Govindas did not demand an apology from Manmohan, Bijoy charged the Congress party of being a double standard party.
Amid the pandemic, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh sold vaccines to private hospital at Rs 1000 per dose.
The DNA of Punjab Congress is also in the Congress party of Manipur which is why the party is trying to mislead the public, he said.
Bijoy further said that Rajiv Gandhi Foundation chaired by Sonia Gandhi accepted donation from China Invention despite knowing that China is an enemy of the country.
He then appealed to the people not to believe in the propaganda of Congress party.
