DGCA gives nod to landing of Myanmarese airliner at Tulihal

To mark the maiden landing of an international airliner, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India has approved the Myanmarese private airliner, Golden Myanmar to land at Tulihal Airport here on November 21 after its elevation to an international airport.
More than 100 delegates from Myanmar including the Chief Ministers of Mandalay and Sagaign Regions would be on board the chartered flight of Golden Myanmar to attend the Sangai Festival.
According to a highly placed official source, the approval has been given by the DGCA in view of strengthening the goodwill mission between Myanmar and India.
The flight is scheduled to arrive at Imphal Airport at 10 am on November 21 and depart on the same day.
However, the same airliner would land at Imphal Airport for the second time on November 24 and ferry back the Myanmarese delegates.
As of now, the DGCA has not approved landing of any other international flights at Imphal Airport except the chartered flight of Golden Myanmar.
A team of eight officials from Kolkata would arrive at Imphal tomorrow to start the process of issuing visa on arrival.
The Myanmarese delegates would be issued visa on their arrival at Imphal Airport on November 21.A team of well-trained officers of Manipur Police would assist the officials in issuing visas, the source added.
Further, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has decided to waive flight service charge of USD 2700 from the chartered flight of Golden Myanmar as an offer for the inauguration of Imphal International Airport.
Meanwhile, a team comprising Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism M Prithviraj, Special Secretary of Transport M Lakshmikanta and Director of Transport Luikham inspected the development works at Imphal Airport today.
The team minutely inspected the VIP waiting hall, toilets, security check-in and other facilities which are currently being developed by Airport Authority of India (AAI) in connection with the maiden landing of an international flight at Imphal Airport.
