The State Government has constituted a State level 30-member committee to check presence of alien words in Manipuri language.
MEELAL secretary Tha Kaba said that the name of the committee would be State Level Manipuri Lexicon Committee.
With Manipuri language not witnessing any development although Manipuri language has been taught up to the level of Class X, MEELAL has been pressing the Education Minister to constitute the committee in order to pick out alien words from Manipuri language.
As such, the Governor issued an order regarding constituting of the committee on July 13 last, he added.
MEELAL has taken up necessary steps to avoid using alien words in the books written by different authors, Tha Kaba said that BOSEM has also assured them that no alien words would be used in Manipuri literature text books.
He added that spelling uniformity would be maintained complying with the State Government order issued on May 29, 2014 .
MEELAL president Sadokpam Tomba Mangang said that the Lup is putting in effort to make children and young generation aware about seven 'Maichous' .
He thanked popular film actor Kaiku for giving permission to erect images of seven 'Maichous' at his children park located at Maiba Khul.
Saying that a trust would be constituted to make the endeavour a grand success, the president requested the general public to extend support to the endeavour.
