Locals of Pangantabi Village under Kakching district have urged the State Government to provide them with tap water at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held Tuesday, one of the locals said, "Though the village has eight leikais under its jurisdiction with a population of about 6000 people, only 4 of the leikais are supplied tap water by Pangantabi Water Supply" .
Demanding the State Government to look into the matter and provide the households who have been deprived of safe and clean drinking water within 10 days, she added that the locals have resolved to launch agitation including shutting of Water Supply if their demand is not fulfilled within the stipulated time.
On meeting, officials of Pangantabi Water Supply elucidated that they have no idea why the water pipe was not reaching the 4 localities while the contractor concerned said that laying water pipe for the 4 leikais was not included in the project, she asserted.
Claiming that they have not any idea to whom they should approach to get clean water, she appealed the State Government to look into the matter and address their grievance at the earliest.
