Covid claims 20 more lives, infects 623 others

Imphal, May 18 2021:
As the second wave of Covid-19 continues unabated in the state, 20 more individuals lost their lives in the last 24 hours while 624 new cases were detected in the same period.
With the addition of 624 new cases, the active caseload of the state has swelled to 6605 of which 4231 are in home isolation while the remaining 2374 (35.94 per cent) are undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities.
Since the beginning of this year, the state has reported 12,495 cases and 257 fatalities while the current month reported 9097 new cases and 207 fatalities.
The last seven days saw 4313 new positive cases and 103 fatalities.
The average positivity rate during the current month has reached 17.03 per cent.
According to official reports, all the 624 new cases (352 male & 272 female) are from among the general population.

Their samples were tested at RIMS (48), JNIMS (7), Imphal West (53), Imphal East (28), Maipakpi (20), Mother's Care (2), CMC (1), Samaritan (10), GILEAD HC (1), Raj Medicity (37), Ema Hospital (3), Christian Hospital (1), Asian Hospital (5), Imphal Hospital (5), Jivan Hospital (14), Shija Hospitals (62), Babina Diagnostics (113), Escent Diagnostics (56), Thoubal (32), Bishnupur (53), Kakching (10), Churachandpur (31), Chandel (16), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (1), Ukhrul (6), Kangpokpi (2), Noney (4) and Pherzawl (1).The positive cases are from Imphal East (129), Imphal West (270), Thoubal (43), Bishnupur (67), Kakching (32), Ukhrul (7), Churachandpur (43), Chandel (18), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (2), Tengnoupal (2), Kangpokpi (2), Noney (4) and Pherzawl (2).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The 20 fatalities reported on Tuesday included an 84-year old male (IW), a 42-year old male (IE), a 76-year old male (IE), a 75-year old female (IW), a 59-year old male (IE), an 88year old female (IW), a 28-year old female (CCpur), a 47-year old male (CCpur), a 52-year old male (Tbl), a 73-year old female (Ukl), a 44-year old male (Kak), a 60-year old female (IE), a 60-year old male (IW), a 38-year old male (IE), a 54-year old female (IE), a 42year old male (IE), a 63-year old female (IE), a 52-year old male (IW), a 63-year old female (Spt) and an 82-year old male (IE) who died at Shija Hospitals (6), DH Churachandpur (2), DH Thoubal (1), DH Ukhrul (1), RIMS (6) and JNIMS (4) hospital respectively.
The cumulative number of deaths is 612 .
In the last 24 hours, 337 patients were discharged from CAPF (8), home isolation (213), RIMS (5), JNIMS (3), RD Wing (4), BB (6), NSU (5), SHRI (13), Babina Speciality Hospital (2), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (10), DH Churachandpur (7), Jivan Hospital (2), Thoubal (13), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (17), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (16), Tamenglong (3) and Jiribam (4) .
However, their district information is not disclosed by the authority to the public.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 40,683 (general population - 36,978 and CAPF personnel - 3,705) .
Number of recovered cases is 33,466 (general population - 29,929 and CAPF personnel - 3,537) and number of active cases is 6605 (general population - 6442 and CAPF personnel - 163).The recovery rate is 82.26 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1364 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 521 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been reportedly made available to different health institutions and health facilit ies in the state.
As of Monday, Covid vaccines have been administered to 3,18,586 individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (14,322), Imphal East (9402), Thoubal (3096), Churachandpur (2770), Kangpokpi (1351), Tamenglong (1645), Bishnupur (2150), Senapati (923), Ukhrul (947), Kakching (1579), Chandel (796), Noney (483), Tengnoupal (460), Jiribam (386), Kamjong (334), and Pherzawl (39) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (228), Imphal East (157), Thoubal (66), Churachandpur (49), Kangpokpi (17), Tamenglong (7), Bishnupur (38), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (7), Kakching (20), Chandel (12), Noney (1), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (2), and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 13,111 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 19,073 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,14,721 tests per million population against the national average of 2,28,681 TPM.
Case fatality rate rose to 1.50 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 3201 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 19.49 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 6.11 per cent.
