Anganwadi Centres excel in assisting mothers, elders in Inner LS election

Under the directive of the Chief Electoral officer Manipur and the Department of Social Welfare, Anganwadi Centres in Manipur provided relentless service to the voters during the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency of the 17th Lok Sabha election.
Volunteers of Anganwadi Centres took care of toddlers so that the nursing mothers could cast their vote without any disturbance while elders and old people were also assisted throughout the day.
Anganwadi workers and helpers carried out their duty at Maibam Leikai under 15-Wangkhei Assembly Constituency, Wangkhei Khunou Citizens Club 15/39 and Helley English School 15/28 polling stations.

Speaking to The Sangai Express, in its journey monitoring the Lok Sabha election at different areas of the Inner Manipur PCs, Sapam Sujata (Worker) and S Anita (Helper) who have been deputed at Citizens Club Soibam Leikai Wangkhei Khurai stated that volunteers of Anganwadi Centres are extending services to nursing mothers as well as elders who come to cast their vote.
They stated that the Anganwadi Centres are carrying out its duty diligently as per the notification issued by the Chief Electoral Officer Manipur on March 26.They further stated that workers and helpers of Angwanwadi Centres take care of the babies (from toddlers to five years) so that the mothers can vote freely adding that assistance is also extended to old age people so they can fulfil exercise their right to vote.
ICDS Supervisor of Imphal East Mutum Tombi submitted the list containing the names of Anganwadi Centres in Imphal East district to the Department of Social Welfare.
Later, 11 Centres were selected in which the Worker and Helper of each Anganwadi Centre were deputed to their nearest polling station to conduct the election duty, she added.
